ATEC
Petroleum and Petrochemical
Interactive Database
What is ATEC?
ATEC is a computer based package which includes a world-wide petroleum and
petrochemical database and a proprietary software specially developed to retrieve and
process the information from this Database.
ATEC Database Coverage
The database includes information on country statistics and company producing plants.
Historical data series begin in 1978 and PTM Consulting Group forecast future market
trends. Items covered are:
- Energy and Petroleum Products statistics
- NGL industry statistics
- Petrochemical Feedstock statistics
- Refining Capacities
- Petrochemicals: olefins, aromatics, intermediates, plastics and fibres (overall more
than 100 products)
The data elements contained in the source plant files include full details on
individual units: operator, location, feedstock, technology, licensor, start-up date and
yearly capacity time series.
Elements in the statistical file include information on country import/export flows,
production/demand statistics and feedstock requirements.
System support files provide details on other items, such as: operating sites,
geographical area composition, company ownership, financial groups, process technology and
licensor.
PTM Consulting Group provides full assistance for input from other data sources.
Database Updating
The updating of the ATEC database is an on-going process: ATEC users receive quarterly
updates of the data and any enhancements of the software made available in the interim.
ATEC Software
The ATEC software is made up of three main modules:
- Database Search and Retrieval
- Database Edit and Update
- Utilities
The ATEC routines use powerful database manager and programming tools which optimise
running time and provide maximum flexibility.
Database Search and Retrieval Routines
Based on user inputs supplied through an interactive questionnaire procedure, ATEC
interrogates the database to provide output in report, spreadsheet or graphic formats
which may be customised to meet individual requirements.
How does ATEC work?
ATEC enables you to retrieve and print data in pre-designed and editable formats. Each
output format is associated with an itemized routine which is contained in the main
selection menu. In addition, all outputs can be downloaded into spreadsheet or graphical
format for further elaboration. The operator interface with ATEC is menu driven and
requires no programming expertise to execute. Furthermore, novice users can ask for a
guided path to parameter selection.
Edit
The ATEC system contains an edit module which allows the user to edit a copy of the
database files. All items in the database may be edited including the insertion of new
items and the deletion of unwanted records. Thus, users may generate their own
personalized database which may be processed by the ATEC software package.
Samples
In order to give you some feel for the information available in the ATEC Database here
are some examples of the most frequently used queries. We have tried to encompass a range
of products, geographical areas and types of information. In general we have picked
historical data as these examples are purely for demostration purposes.
